Home care website checker

A guided self-assessment for Alberta home care and home support agencies. You answer the questions; nothing is scanned or stored on our servers.

  1. 01 / INQUIRIES
Can a family leave an inquiry (form, call, or text) and get a same-day acknowledgement?

Same-day means a human or automatic acknowledgement the day the inquiry arrives — not “we’ll get back to you next week.”

  2. 02 / MOBILE
Is the site easy to use on a phone — readable text, large tap targets, no horizontal scrolling?

Most families and applicants browse on phones. Pinch-zooming through tiny menus is a fail.

  3. 03 / INQUIRIES
Is a phone number obvious on every important page (not buried in the footer)?

Worried adult children look for a number before they read your mission statement.

  4. 04 / ACCESSIBILITY
Is body text high-contrast and large enough for older eyes (not pale grey on white)?

Strong contrast and resizable text are core WCAG AA habits for senior care sites.

  5. 05 / ACCESSIBILITY
Can someone tab through the main pages and forms with a keyboard and always see focus?

If focus disappears or you cannot reach the form submit control, fix that before adding animations.

  6. 06 / RECRUITING
Is there a mobile-friendly careers page with a short application or clear apply path?

If you are hiring caregivers, a buried “email your résumé” line is usually not enough.

  7. 07 / TRUST
Does the site clearly state who you are, where you serve in Alberta, and how families can verify you?

Service areas, contact details, and honest program language (for example CDHCI) build trust. Avoid invented awards.

  8. 08 / PRIVACY
Is there a privacy policy that explains how inquiry and application information is handled under Alberta privacy rules?

Alberta private-sector organizations generally follow PIPA. Forms that collect personal information need clear notice — get legal advice for your situation.

  9. 09 / CLARITY
Can a tired family member tell within a few seconds what services you offer and who they are for?

Lead with services and next steps. Mission poetry can wait until after the phone number.

  10. 10 / TRUST
Are hours, response expectations, and service areas easy to find?

Families need to know when you answer and which Alberta communities you cover.
